Welcome to the stories of Becca's summer in Israel! The Main Page serves as a traditional "blog," with stories and pictures from my adventures. Posts labeled as "Class Notes" are summaries of the things I'm learning at the Hebrew University. "Program Details" gives further explanation about the Study Abroad programs I am completing. Notes from my experiences with peace groups and observations of women's experiences will be provided on the "Field Notes" page. "The Yakhad" is the text of a paper I wrote about the Essene community made famous by the Dead Sea Scrolls. An essay on developmental issues in Israel will be written on the "Issues in Development" page. Hope you enjoy!
Qibbuz? I find that spelling very peculiar. Any particular reason for changing it from KIBBUTZ? At the berry least, there should be a T in the world: qibbuTz. As I recall it IS pronounced with a T in there. Am I mistaken? Belinda
I have it as "kibbutz" in some places as well...I've seen both on the street signs, as a matter of fact. I think spelling as "kibbutz" is a better transliteration, but I'm reflecting what I see! : )
